DOLOMITES LIFE HIKING TIPSFor families, there are various possibilities to explore the mountains and their history. If you would like to try your hand at a small round trip, the legend trail directly in San Vigilio is the best place to start. The path runs along the stream for three kilometres and has eleven information boards with exciting stories about the famous Fanes figures and Princess Dolasilla.
There is also plenty of water to see if you walk with your children from the alpine guesthouse Pederü to the Fanes alp with its lakes. This tour is longer and more demanding, but still easy to manage with the children. The quite comfortable high trail leads with a constant gradient up the mountain. The Fanes hut or Lavarella hut at 2.042 metres is the destination - even if the children will probably be drawn directly to the Green Sea. Those who still have strength in their calves can walk a little further to the Limo Lake, which lies picturesquely at 2.159 metres.
The tour from the alpine guesthouse Pederü up to the Sennes hut is suitable for everyone. You will conquer 600 meters of altitude difference on a total length of 4.7 kilometers and are rewarded with a unique panorama at 2.126 metres.
An experienced hiker should be the one who sets out from the Passo Furcia to the Piz da Peres peak (2.507 metres). A wonderfully varied hike through the woods, over meadows, stick and stone, which requires some surefootedness. We start at the reservoir at the Passo Furcia on path number 3 towards Piz da Peres. The path is steep and sometimes quite narrow, passing at the foot of the northern slopes of the mountain. The path heads towards the Dreifingerscharte between Piz da Peres and Dreifingerspitze (2.479 metres), where it continues upwards in many bends. From the Dreifingerscharte, the path leads across meadows to the summit cross of Piz da Peres, which is located exactly opposite the Plan de Corones.
