Excelsior Resort in San Vigilio di Marebbe certified GSTC Global Sustainable Tourism Council:
The Excelsior Resort in San Vigilio di Marebbe has been certified with the GSTC certification for sustainable tourism on the 30th of August 2021. Following the verification process conducted by Vireo srl, an accredited company for the issuance and verification of the certification both the Excelsior Resort and the tourist destination San Vigilio / San Martino have been awarded with the certification. Together we have decided to take this path of sustainable tourism. The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is a non-profit organisation that defines the basic standards for sustainable development in the travel and tourism sector on a global level. This important certification requires that destinations wishing to obtain this recognition must orient their development towards sustainability by adopting an integrated and multidisciplinary approach and a holistic vision in the four-macro areas provided by the standard: sustainable management, socio-economic sustainability, cultural sustainability and environmental sustainability.
"We are proud to have embarked on this important project which sets the course for us in the future," says Mr Call Werner, owner of the Excelsior Resort. "The GSTC certification is only the beginning and not the ending point of our Resort. I personally see this certification as a process for continuous improvement over the years. The first step has been taken, now it is up to us, the Call family, the Excelsior Team and our guests to continue on this path". Currently only a few tourist facilities in the world have achieved this certification. By increasing the number of certified facilities and resorts we will be able to optimise the tourism offer while respecting the environment and the life quality of the population".
Achieving this result has become a milestone for our company. It gives clear directives for a work in accordance with environmental sustainability by monitoring and reducing our energy and water consumption, the right use of cleaning and sustainable products, ensuring a work-life balance for employers and employees, the proper cooperation with institutions, associations of the region and respecting‚ the culture and work of residents.
In this process not only, the employees will be involved, but also our guests who will be able to make their contribution to saving energy and reducing local traffic by using public transportation.
The goal must be to protect our territory and to sustain the environment, save resources and thus ensure the existence of our future generations.
Projects with WOWnature

The natural environment that surrounds us is a treasure to be preserved. It needs to be enhanced and conserved in order to return it intact, healthier and more resilient to our future generations.
For us and for our company, the landscapes and nature of the Dolomites are our "heritage". Its beauty is a strong attraction for the many guests who come here to spend relaxing and regenerating stays, immersed in the green of our valleys. It is our mission to convey to them and to our employees the importance of respecting the forests - a source of energy, oxygen, well-being and capable of providing us with unforgettable memories with the people we love.
This is why we have decided to support a number of important projects together with WOWnature. In our valley, we have chosen to protect the Alta Badia Adum food forest. The reforestation and protection project involves planting native species such as bilberry, alchemilla, nettle, stone pine, raspberry, alpine rhubarb and many other species with the aim of achieving the highest possible level of biodiversity, protecting the forest but also the trees affected by the 2018 Vaia storm.
In Vietnam, in the remote province of Huong Son, we have joined the protection project, which supports local communities living in balance with the forest by planting new trees and plants for sustainable production, developing the market for wild forest products including bamboo, rattan and numerous medicinal plants.
As a family and as a company we want to use these gestures to make our contribution for revitalizing the world's forests for our future generations.
