Schon einmal Ladinisch gehört?
Description
Alongside German and Italian, Ladin is our third official language in South Tyrol – and in our valley Val Badia, it is more than just a language.
It is part of everyday life.
It is family history.
It is the "Bun dé" with which the day begins.
Ladin has been spoken here for centuries – preserved from generation to generation. Around 30.000 people still speak this Rhaeto-Romance language today, especially here in the Dolomite valleys. Ladin is alive and well in Val Badia, among other places:
- on menus, in magazines and books
- at festivals and traditional events
- in schools and clubs
- in conversation with locals
Thanks to South Tyrol's autonomy, the rights of all three language groups are protected. Multilingual education and Ladin media ensure that our language is not only preserved but also continues to thrive.
MYLADIN DINNER
Every Monday, we celebrate our roots with MYLADIN DINNER: an evening dedicated to our Ladin culture.
Karol, Reni and the #myexcelsior kitchen team conjure up a dinner of traditional Ladin specialities for our guests – authentic, finely interpreted and prepared with a great deal of love for our homeland.
Recipes that have been preserved for generations are combined with the best regional ingredients to create an evening full of history.
